Keyword Search
You can perform a basic search from the Keyword Search field in the left hand navigation bar of any page. In the "Search for:" field, type the name of the item you are looking for, an adjective that describes its characteristics, or a word that describes your concept. Then press your computer's Enter key or the on-screen Go button.

Keywords have been assigned to Ultimate Symbol site products and images. They are displayed under Additional Information on each product page. Keywords may be nouns that identify a subject (e.g.,"swan", "headphone", "taxi"), verbs or verb forms that describe associated action (e.g.,"running", "fishing", "swim"), or adjectives (e.g., "modern", "circular", "rough"). Do not use quotation marks when entering keywords. (Quotations marks only appear in these instructions for emphasis.)

The search engine is not case sensitive so it does not matter if you use caps or lowercase, or any combination of these. It finds precisely what you are asking for. It does not, however, automatically include related variations of your search term. Therefore, if you want to retrieve images of a boat, use the singular noun and if you want images of more than one boat, use the plural. Wildcard searching is also not supported at this time.

Another way to search is by the image numbers provided in Ultimate Symbol catalogs. Simply enter the file number: e.g., X01A13. Click "Go" or your computer's Enter key to begin the search.

Advanced Search
The Full search page offers the functions of the Basic search from the navigation bar or search result page (see Search tips). It also provides other ways to limit your search. Use the checkboxes to refine your search by selecting only those products you are interested in. You may add previously purchased products to your lightbox.

Search tips
The Ultimate Symbol search engine returns a maximum of 20 pages of results (240 products), no matter how many images per page you have specified in the Display Options. (This limit has been imposed to reduce search engine load and ensure fast search response.)

Too few hits or none at all?
Enter a more general idea. For example, if you don't get enough hits for the search "spinnaker", try "sail" or "sailboat" or widen your search by using the "or" operator. Check your spelling. A misstep on the keyboard can return nothing, even if we have loads of products that will meet your needs. Also consider using the plural of your search term: if you used the singular "spinnaker" and the result was zero hits, try the plural "spinnakers".

Why can't I find a particular product?
At this time, there are a few products that are featured in the printed Ultimate Symbol mailer/catalog or that are listed in the product index that are not searchable using the search engine. We are constantly adding more products to the search engine database.
